YES NO This is where the Krootox fits in. But there are those moments when the Tau need a melee unit that can deal with the heavier hitting units. Kroot Carnivores (a unit that we discussed in detail a few weeks back) are melee specialists who can deal with normal melee threats like a horde of axe-wielding Orks. So the Tau rely on their allies, the Kroot to deal with melee combat and to run interference for their Fire Warriors. But the Tau are also smart enough to realize that battles don't always go as planned, and that they need to be ready to deal with ambushes and melee combat. Their military is all about solving problems from a distance with high technology.
Their message of harmony and equality is a welcome change in a universe dominated by evil warlords, crazed barbarians and mass genocide. The Tau are a futuristic race who use superior range and superior technology to stave off the less enlightened races of the galaxy.
